Bay of Plenty has had a fortunate history of very few natural disasters. However, this does not mean that this region is invincible.
Water is something essential to us. Whether it’s to drink, clean or play, water is used every day and so it is no surprise how much care is needed to ensure the Bay of Plenty has the freshest water available. In fact, $30 million is invested each year into maintaining the regions fresh water resources.
Mashup, a learn-by-doing ideation event for local teens, is being held again in March. It’s a chance for youth to not only come up with great, problem-solving ideas, but to test them using real world techniques, while being mentored by experts giving back their expertise and experiences.
Local teen, CJ Dobbs, 18, has taken part in the last three Mashup events. Here she explains for benefit of parents and their children, what she learned, and why she thinks other teens should enter.
